The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi says the war against corruption should be carried out without witch-hunting anybody.

Kumuyi, who spoke with newsmen in Surulere, Lagos after ending the 18-day Lagos city-wide crusade organised by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in conjunction with the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, said the war against corruption is legitimate and should be carried out in the proper way.

He said corruption should be frowned at as it was a detrimental to the poor people and the nation at large.

“My comment is that corruption is bad and it is to the disadvantage of the poor people and to the whole country and the fight against corruption is legitimate and right but we should do it without witch-hunting, without being after anybody.

“We should really stamp out corruption and those of us who are also fighting against corruption, we should make sure that we lay the example and are also free from corruption,” he stated.

Kumuyi also urged Nigerians to be their neighbours’ keepers and shun all forms of selfishness and greed.

“We should be out to do our best for our neighbours and everyone. It is not how much we can get but let us have the spirit of sacrifice to see that we contribute to make the nation a great one and the giant of Africa,” he said.

On his message for the nation, he called on Nigerians to cooperate with the government and stop criticizing it.

“We should watch the outcome of the process of organising things and stamp out corruption and all that. This is not the time for criticism, it is time to patiently see what is being done and to cooperate and go along with the government,” he added.

Kumuyi also said the secret behind his strength in undergoing 18-day crusade non-stop at the age of 74 was simply the grace of God and unity of the churches in Lagos.

“I think the secret is the grace of God. This is the first time we will go through like this for 18 days non-stop, travelling from place to place in the state. We give the glory to God and the cooperation of the people as we have worked together in unity. There is unity in strength and I felt the unity of the people, not only Deeper Life but CAN, PFN, everybody, even the media too,” he stated.

Advising the youth, Kumuyi said the youths must have purposeful goal and aim in life to excel.

According to him, “in one of the messages, I spoke about having purposeful goal and aim; we should have a goal to be the best that God can make us to be for the country, not just being selfish for ourselves. As we have that goal, we need to have the drive within and the decision and with the grace of God and relying on God, the Lord will see us through.

“Challenges will be there, but we should not look at that, we should not have the grasshoppers mind like I said tonight. We should not have the spirit that ‘I cannot’. We can by the strength of the Lord and He will make us nation builders by the strength of the Lord.”

Kumuyi ended the marathon crusade in the city of Lagos, with over 25,000 people making a decision for Christ and added to the kingdom.

The crusade ended at the National Stadium, Surulere, with a huge crowd in attendance.
