The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has described the late HID Awolowo as a ‘Special Woman’, who had served God, mankind and Nigeria diligently in all areas.

He stated that Mama was an icon and blessing to this country.

The police boss stated this when he visited the family of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in Ikenne, Ogun State to commiserate with them over the passing of Mama on Saturday, 19 September, 2015.

Among the officers who accompanied Arase include the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali; his Lagos State counterpart, Fatai Owoseni; Commissioner of Police, Cooperatives, Dorathy Gimba; ACP Bisi Kolawole, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, PPRO, AC Abiodun Alabi and others.

In a statement on Sunday by the Ogun State Police Command spokesman, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he stated that the death of Mama HID has created a big vacuum that could only be filled by God Almighty.

The IGP however promised the family of Awolowo adequate security before, during and after the burial rites of Mama HID Awolowo..

Arase also reaffirmed the police commitment to tackle crimes and social vices in the country with a view to having people-oriented policing.

While welcoming the police boss at the Ikenne, Revd. Mrs. Omotola Oyediran,on behalf of the Awolowo family, thanked Arase and officers and men of the police for their concern and support.
