Two middle-aged men, Festus Owie and Blessing Ebiminor, were Tuesday arraigned at an Egor Magistrate Court in Benin, capital of Edo state, for allegedly defiling a 12-year old girl (name withheld).

The accused, Owie, 20 and Ebiminor, 21, were alleged to have committed the offence 26 October, at 46, Oromina Street, off Siluuko road in Benin.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ledee N-Ueh, told the court that the accused persons unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the victim.

N-Ueh said the offence is punishable Under Sections 516, 218 and 222 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. II, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Igho Bramoh, ordered the remand of the accused persons in prison custody and adjourned the case till Oct. 19 for hearing.
