Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun has announced the commencement of payment of backlog of co-operative deductions and leave bonuses to civil servants.

Amosun revealed this on Tuesday during the Special Reception held in honour of the outgoing Head of Service, HoS, and 35 retired Permanent Secretaries from the civil service.

The event was held at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The governor disclosed that he had approved the immediate payment of the arrears from November 2014 to April 2015 from the bailout given to the State by the Federal Government, while it had on its own, paid the deductions from June to September 2015.

He affirmed his administration’s commitment to paying the salaries of its workforce as at when due, noting that, this had been the culture of its administration, even in the face of the sudden economic downturn in the country.

Amosun, who also used the opportunity to inform newsmen that he had sent the list of his intended cabinet members to the State House of Assembly for clearance, noted that his administration would immediately hit the ground running in order to improve the fortunes of the state and mitigate the effect of the economic downturn on the State.

Meanwhile, the governor lauded the immense contributions of the outgoing Head of Service, Mrs. Modupe Adekunle, describing her as a significant player in the success story of his administration.

“Today, you can raise your shoulders high anywhere because you are a significant part of the success story of this administration. Tell anyone who cares to listen that you were part of the administration that transformed the entire landscape of Ogun State,” Amosun said.

The governor described Adekunle and the 35 other retiring Permanent Secretaries as people of noble character and worthy examples for others coming behind.

The Chairman, Body of Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Sola Adeyemi, described the HoS as a woman of calibre who distinguished herself through hard work, dedication and undoubtedly contributed greatly to the development of the state.
