The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced its governorship campaign in Kogi with a call on the electorate to vote for change in the poll slated for November 21.

Addressing members and party supporters at a rally held on Wednesday in Ayingba, the party’s flag bearer, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, called on the people to liberate themselves from poverty and diseases by voting APC.

He said that he was on a rescue mission to restore the state to its past glory by reviving education, agriculture and health sectors.

He accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of mismanaging the resources and plunging the state into abyss through bad governance.

The APC candidate urged the electorate to effect the necessary change in the state by voting him and his running mate, James Faleke whom described as “well exposed and enlightened”.

“The power is in your hands; you are the electorate, effect the change in Kogi and see instant development and advancement of the state for the future of your children and those yet unborn.

“I have done it before and I can do it better if you give me the mandate,” he said.

Audu declared that if he was able to establish a wide range of infrastructure when federal allocation to the state was a mere N400 monthly, he would do better now when the allocation runs into billions of naira.

He listed some of the infrastructure to include Kogi State University, Confluence Beach Hotel, a befitting government house, provision of electricity and water in rural areas, among others.

He pledged to use his connections and exposure to improve the lives of the people and resuscitate all decayed infrastructure.

“Posterity will judge all of us if we fold our arms and allow the only state we can boldly call ours being dragged into the mud by inexperienced leaders who do not have the interest of the state at heart,’’ he said.

A former governor of Kano State, Sen. Kabiru Gaya told the crowd that Audu remains the man to beat in the election and urged the electorate to vote for him.
