Majority Leader of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday urged Nigerians to learn to keep leaders of the country on their toes.

Gbajabiamila stated this in his message to mark the country’s 55th Independence Anniversary.

The representative of Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, congratulated Nigerians for witnessing the anniversary adding: “as a country we have come through our own rough history and now on a new path to national rebirth.

“Nigerians must keep their leaders on their toes at all times and also support the three arms of government in delivery of checks that would ensure transparency and accountability.

“In the last few years some of us harped on implementation of Nigeria’s appropriation laws faithfully because a nation with staggered budget implementation is not ready for development.

“Today, we cry of infrastructural deficits whereas our budget design keeps recycling budget disequilibria wherein recurrent expenditure exponentially exceeds our capital budget.

“I urge Nigerians to endure the temporary challenge that comes with a government of Change. Old things have passed and all things have become new. Nigeria shall be great again.”
