The Lagos State Association of Indigenous Youths, LAIY, has accused Senate President Bukola Saraki of being behind a recent media report that is aimed at pitching a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A national daily had reported on 10 October that the presidency was building a ring of security surveillance around Tinubu over the latter’s alleged rage concerning the ministerial list submitted by President Buhari to the Senate for screening.

The report was also quoted as saying that Tinubu had since begun moves against the President by lobbying to parley Senate President Bukola Saraki to jointly revolt against Buhari and that Tinubu was trying to exit the country and fight this battle from abroad.

In a press release issued on Wednesday by Comrade Sofwan Temitope Ogungbo, President of LAIY, the group said it suspected Senate President Bukola Saraki’s hand in the fake media report, adding that, this could be intended to stir a controversy within the party and shift attention away from Saraki’s case before the Code of Conduct Tribunal and disparage Tinubu, who he believes is a predominant force behind his trial ordeal.

LAIY condemned the media report describing it as baseless, derogatory, childish, cheap and unprofessional.

While lamenting that there are masked enemies who are bent on discrediting Tinubu because they envy his achievements in the current national political space, LAIY said: “the media report was nothing but sponsored fabrication to achieve heinous objectives.”

“This is not the first time we are reading speculative and junk media report on the relationship between Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and President Buhari.

“It only comes out funnier with the appendage that Asiwaju is even lobbying Saraki to wage war on President Buhari.

“We think this kind of story coming from a popular newspaper betrays intelligence and journalism. It is a story that will not fly if told to a student in secondary school.

“It is nothing but sponsored fiction targeted at a man who is living his dream as a common sense revolutionist and liberator of the masses.”

The group described as funny the way Asiwaju Tinubu was used as object of speculation every time a national issue arises adding that it is unthinkable to assume Tinubu would begin to destroy a house he strove build.

“Even among achievers, there is a distinguished champion,” the statement said.

According to the group, “Tinubu remains a respected leader who understands the rudiments and advanced nature of politics and is a leader who does not go for cheap political game-play in the country.”

It urged the APC National Leader to remain steadfast in the face of people playing games to create a face-off between the him and the presidency while warning that it would resist any attempt to malign the former governor of Lagos State.
