4 days after: No word from kinapped corps member, 3 teachers

Rivers State Police Command is yet to establish contact with four persons including, a corps member, teachers and others who were kidnapped from a secondary school in Rundele in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, southern Nigeria, on Monday.

Reactions have continued to trail the abduction of the four persons. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State has condemned the incident that occurred at Rundele High School, Agban-Ndele in Rundele, Emohua Local Government Area.

NLC Chairperson in Rivers State, Beatrice Itubo, in a statement described the action of the abductors as barbaric and heartless.

Itubo called on state government and security agencies to redouble efforts to curb the menace of kidnapping in the state.

He also called on security agencies to ensure the safe and speedy release of those abducted.

Similarly, the Public Relations Officer of Emohua Local Government Journalists Association, Nlewedum condemned the abduction of the four victims.

He regretted that four days after the victims were abducted contact has not been established with the abductors.

The mmother to one of the abducted teachers, Mrs. Mbadike, has begged for the unconditional release of her daughter, Mrs. Ogechi, adding that her daughter’s health constantly needs close observation and medication.

Meanwhile, the incident has led to the stoppage of all academic activities in the school.
