Former coaches of the Golden Eaglets have charged the team to beat Chile in their second group match of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup, which holds in the early hours of Wednesday.
U-17 World Cup winner at the UAE 2013, Manu Garba warned that the Nigerian team will be playing against the fans of the host side.
He also warned that they should not be overwhelmed by the crowd but play their game.
“Our boys should not be afraid of the huge crowd that will be at the stadium for the match. I think the worse they should aim at is a draw at the end of the day, ” Garba said.
To Nduka Ugbade, who assisted Garba at the World Cup in UAE in 2013, the job of defending the title has just begun, adding that the Eaglets have what it takes to get to the final.
“Our chances to get to the final are bright, but we must scale some hurdles which I believe our team are capable of doing. The Chilean team are equally good, but I see us winning this match, ” Ugbade said.
A one time coach of the U-17 team, Alphonsus Dike, warned Emmanuel Amuneke and his boys against complacency.
He said that Chile who failed to win their first match would be all out to get three points out of the match.
“There should be no room for complacency. Chile would want to win this match having played draw against Croatia on Saturday. They will be under serious pressure against us, but our boys are up to the task,” Dike said.
