Driver faces trial for biting police woman

A 28-year-old commuter bus driver has been arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting a police woman in Lagos State, wesrern Nigeria.

The suspect, Oluwaya Eshe, allegedly attacked Omowumi Aliu and Adebisi Bamiu attached to Isheri Oshun while they were performing their lawful duties.

He reportedly bit Bamiu on her hand which resulted in serious injury.

The incident happened at along Ikotun-Ijegun road in Ijegun, on the outskirts of Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that trouble started after the two women officers accosted Eshe for contravening traffic law on the high way.

They attempted to to take the bus along with Eshe to their station for the offence he allegedly committed but he resisted.

During the encounter, they started exchange of words which resulted in fighting.

In the process, Eshe reported attacked the officers, tore their uniform and bit Bamiu on her hand.

It took the intervention of other officers from the station who over- powered Eshe and eventually dragged him to the station.

He was charged to court with assault, tearing of police uniform and human bite under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs J. O. E. Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail.

The matter was adjourned till 11 November 2015.
