Tinubu praises ex-Lagos Sports Commissioner, Oshodi
Special Adviser (SA) to the Lagos State Governor on Sports/Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Ayodeji Tinubu gave credit to the former Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Social Development in Lagos State, Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi for raising the level of sports administration during his four-year tenure.
He said this shortly after being sworn in and stated his intent to raise the bar even higher.
Tinubu said that achieving set goals is dependent on immediately imbibing a culture of hardwork, dedication, loyalty and willingness of staff and athletes to develop their capacities.
He stated that to achieve the vision of setting up the foundation to divest government from one hundred percent financing obligations, the thought process and strategy of various functions like marketing and media needs to change so that the commission would be positioned to reap the benefits of potential Private Sector Partnership and sponsorships.
He emphasised the need to meet sponsors’ needs while welcoming ideas from everyone.
The Chairman also revealed his desire to improve female athletes’ welfare and promised to strive towards improving their focus and self-esteem with the introduction of a Guidance & Counselling Unit for all athletes.
He said “we must begin to look at holding a national physically challenged people’s game. They must be made to know that we care and must be given a sense of belonging as all people are equal.”
