Court convicts 49 traffic offenders in Edo

Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Oluwasusi Familoni, has disclosed that no fewer than 53 motorists were prosecuted by the Corps for contravening various traffic offenses in Benin.

Forty-nine of the 53 offenders were however convicted by a mobile court.

Familoni disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Benin on Monday.

He said the offenders were arraigned and tried before a mobile court which sat at Okhuihe village, near Benin and presided over by Magistrate Friday Igbinosa.

According to the Sector Commander, offenses of the 49 convicts bothered on forgery of either vehicle documents or driver’s license.

He said the court however discharged four of the prosecuted offenders with a warning to be safety conscious at all times to stay alive.
