5 suspected cult leaders remanded

The police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, have arrested five persons suspected to be leaders of a secret cult operating in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The suspects are Adeniyi Folami, 23, Kehinde Oshodi, 22, Ololade Ayodele, 37, Lekan Oseni, 38 and 35-year-old Olalekan Ajiloore.

They were arrested at Shomolu area and charged before Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court after which they were remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi, Lagos.

The police alleged that the suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in organizing and managing a secret cult called Eiye Fraternity in Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the suspects were arrested after a tip off that they were planning to cause mayhem in Lagos.

They allegedly gathered in Shomolu under the disguise of celebrating a birthday party, and before they could swing into action, the police, who had got the information, moved in and rounded them up.

Five of the suspects were arrested while others escaped and are now at large.

The suspects are facing a three-count charge of felony, belonging and managing an unlawful society called Eiye Fraternity in Lagos. They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs F. A. O. Boloku granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 11 November, 2015.
