GLO-CAF Award: Enyeama, Musa out, Toure, Ayew make 10-man list

Confederation of African Football (CAF) Monday made public a 10-man short-list for the African Player of the Year Award with no Nigerian player making the list.

CAF also shortlisted 10 players for 2015 African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) in the Glo-CAF Awards.

The players were shortlisted from 37 players who earlier were nominated for the African Player of the Year, and 20 players who made the list for the Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa were earlier shortlisted, but their names were missing from the latest list released on Monday.

The list of top 10 nominees include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon & Borrussia Dortmund of Germany, Yaya Toure of Cote d’Ivoire and Manchester City of England, Andre Ayew of Ghana and Swansea FC, Aymen Abdennor of Tunisia and FC Valence of Spain, Modather Al Tayeb of Sudan and Al Hilal FC OF Sudan, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and AS Roma of Italy, and Sadio Mane of Senegal and Southampton of England.

Others are Serge Aurier of Cote d’Ivoire and Paris St Germain of France, Sofiane Feghouli of Algeria and FC Valence of Spain, and Yacine Brahimi of Algeria and FC Porto of Portugal.

In the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category, the 10 shortlisted players are Baghdad Bounedjah of Algeria and Etoile Sportive Sahel of Tunisia, Abdeladim Khadrouf of Morocco, Felipe Ovono of Equatorial Guinea and Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Kermit Erasmus of South Africa and Orlando Pirates, Mbwana Aly Samatta of Tanzania and TP Mazembe of Congo DR, Mohamed Meftah of Algeria and USM Alger of Algeria, Modather Al Tayeb of Sudan and Al Hilal, Robert Kidiaba Muteba of Congo DR and TP Mazembe, Robert Assale of Cote d’Ivoire and Sewe Sports and Zinnedine Ferhat of Algeria and USM Alger.

The list of Top 5 nominees will be released by CAF in the coming weeks. The winners will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches and Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The Glo- CAF Awards Gala nite will take place on Thursday, 7 January 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
