Buhari describes re-election of Ivorian President as victory for unity and stability

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday night called President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire to congratulate him again on his election victory.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by Mallam Garba Shehu, the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.

In the telephone conversation, Buhari described the election as a “major victory for democracy’’ and praised Ivoirians for its peaceful conduct.

He said that the election was a clear indication that the people of the West African country were prepared to live with one another in peace and harmony.

Buhari told Ouattara that his re-election for a second five-year term was an opportunity for him to continue to lead Cote d’Ivoire along the path to greatness, in peace and tranquility.

He wished Quattara successful second term in office.
