As the 2014/2015 Glo Premier League gradually coming to an end, the tight competition witnessed among clubs in the last weeks of the season points to continuous improvement in the standard of the elite division.
Enyimba FC of Aba top the log with 68 points after 36 matches with two matches to the end of the season while Warri Wolves trail closely on 62 points and will need to win the next two games which include a clash with Enyimba on the last day, November 15, to stand a chance of winning the league.
This year’s league has lived up to expectation in terms of quality of matches, and has continued to rub off on the home-based national team.
Enyimba which started the season slowly rose to the occasion weeks after and then sustained their leadership up to this moment says everything about the competitiveness of the league.
Defending champions, Pillars FC of Kano also deserve commendation for achieving an appreciable result despite suffering serious setback at the inception of the league when the team were attacked on their way to honouring a match with some players severely injured in the incident.
The Kano-based team showed strength and commitment and hopefully they will improve remarkably next season.
Title sponsor of Glo Premier League, Globacom commended the League Management Company, LMC, for the series of innovation introduced into the league.
