The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Malam Habib Abdullahi on Thursday said the Authority would collaborate with the management of the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) on security, pilotage and safe channels.
This was contained in a statement issued by the NPA General Manager, Public Affairs, Capt Iheanacho Ebubeogu, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
After an inspection tour of LADOL’s facilities along Badagry Channel, Lagos harbours, Abdullahi said the company had contributed immensely to the Nigerian maritime industry and the nation’s economy
The managing director assured the management of LADOLl of the authority’s support and collaboration in the areas of security, pilotage, and safe channels, among others.
He said, “I am very impressed and very proud as a Nigerian that a company owned by a Nigerian is doing well.
“As a landlord and technical regulator, NPA will continue to encourage all other companies in the maritime sector undertaking similar ventures,’’ he said.
Earlier, the Managing Director of LADOL, Dr Amy Jadesinmi told the Managing Director that LADOL was Nigeria’s first and only wholly-owned indigenous Nigerian Deep Offshore Logistic Base.
She said LADOL provided world class solution in areas of deep off-shore support for maritime and gas projects, agriculture and fabrications.
Jadesimi said the company had a vision of providing next growth opportunity aimed at changing the entire economic landscape of the country through the provision of 5,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs for Nigerians.
She expressed appreciation to the NPA management for its support and cooperation over the years which had given LADOL the opportunity she enjoyed.
The managing director said LADOL was constructing a passenger terminal, with an emergency response facility, with a capacity to accommodate 1,000 passengers due to be completed in 2017.
She said the company was also constructing an integrated quay wall with a built design of 13.5 metre draught and 500 metre long which is due for completion in February 2016.
She called for more collaboration with NPA and indeed Nigerians, noting that “the success of Nigeria depends on working together’’.
