3 jailed for impersonating Plateau State Speaker, Gov’s wife
A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Friday sentenced three men to one month imprisonment each for impersonating and duping Speaker and Governor’s wife in Plateau State.
The trio are Moses Raymond 31, Dachung Alexander 35, and Nuhu Sylvester 31.
They were arraigned before Magistrate Tijjani Zololo for duping wife of the state governor and impersonating the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The trio reside in different addresses within Jos North and South Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
Mr Danat Dagin, Chief Security Officer, Plateau Government House, reported the matter on Nov. 5 at the A Division, Nigeria police, Jos.
The complainant stated that the suspects presented themselves as agents of the Speaker and armed themselves with various incriminating documents to dupe the wife of the governor of Plateau.
He said the speaker denied knowing or sending any of them on an assignment to the wife of the governor.
The prosecutor, Commissioner of Police, Mr Adekunle Oladunjoye said the accused persons confessed to the crime during investigation.
They also pleaded guilty before the court and begged for leniency.
He said the offence was contrary to the provision of sections 92 and 132 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
Zololo sentenced the accused to one month imprisonment each with an option of N200,000 fine each.
