The combined team of Onipanu Police division in Ota and Ifo division on Saturday rescued a two-week old baby who was stolen in Abule Ifo in Ifo local government area of Ogun state.

The suspect, Ifeoluwa Yekini of Abule Ifo in Ifo town was alleged to have stolen the baby on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the state Police spokesman, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the combined teams had placed the suspect under surveillance and they subsequently picked her up when he was seen in the area.

“The suspect(now in police custody), who had been monitoring the mother of the baby while pregnant, went under the pretense of felicitating with the mother in her house at the same village and requested to back the baby, which the mother obliged her.

“She went further by requesting from the mother to take the baby out to shop for the little baby girl. But at the market, the suspect decided to run away with the baby to an unknown place.
