Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Ezike, on Thursday confirmed that a shoot-out between Fulani Herdsmen and members of a vigilante group in Owan East local government area of the State, left one person dead and another seriously injured.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday between Ivbiaro and Ihiebve in Owan East.

It was reliably gathered that the Fulani herdsmen who had earlier kidnapped someone in the area, were moving their victim from one point to another when the members of the vigilance group were informed.

They were said to have moved in to confront the herdsmen leading to the shoot-out, during which one of the herdsmen was allegedly gunned down and another arrested while others escaped.

A member of the vigilante group who was said to have been injured is currently receiving medical attention in a private hospital at Auchi.

Ezike disclosed that the police recovered a locally made pistol from the scene.

It would be recalled that the Principal of Ivbiaro Secondary School simply identified as Mr. Afekhai was recently abducted in the area by men suspected to Fulani herdsmen.
