Come to Edo State, Speaker urges investors

Mr Victor Edoror, the Speaker of Edo House of Assembly (EDHA), on Thursday advised investors to take advantage of the enabling environment to invest in the state.
Edoror made the appeal in Benin at the flag-off of the construction of a 3.2-kilometre road by an estate developer, Prucriz Property Investment Nigeria Ltd.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Prucriz is developing a housing estate on a 32-hectare land in Amufi community, near Benin.
The speaker said Edo was now an investment destination as a result of its enabling environment.
He assured prospective investors that the legislature would provide the necessary legislative framework for them to succeed in the state.
Edoror said that the private sector had great roles to play in assisting the state government to transform its infrastructure and provide employment opportunities.
“That Prucriz has decided to embark on this massive estate development was made possible by the enabling environment created by the state government.
“I want other investors to emulate Prucriz by coming to take advantage of this same enabling environment to invest in Edo.
“On our part, as the state legislature, we will provide the necessary legislative laws to ensure that investors succeed,’’ the speaker said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Prucriz, Mr Chris Ebbih, said the estate, whose idea was conceived in 2011, was a dream come true for him.
Ebbih said one of the factors that motivated him, apart from the enabling environment, was his desire to succeed.
“It is not easy for an individual to embark on a project of this magnitude in view of the current prevailing economic reality,’’ he said.
He said the new road would not only serve the estate, but the community as well.
Present at the flag-off ceremony were the state Commissioner for Environment and Public Utility, Mr Clem Agba and hiscounterpart in the Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Francis Evbowan.
