Synagogue Church Trustees, Engineers to be arraigned on Monday over building collapse

Lagos State Ministry of Justice says that the trial of Trustees of the Synagogue Church and the building Engineers contracted to supervise the Church’s collapsed building will begins on Monday, 30th November, 2015.

A statement by the Public Relation Officer of the ministry, Mrs Bola Akingbade said the trial will take place at the Ikeja High Court before Justice Lawal Akapo.

A Coroner , Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, had in a verdict ruled that the Synagogue Church and its contractors were essentially negligent in the fatal collapse of a building that killed 116 people in September 12, 2014.

The Coroner had recommended to the Lagos State Government that the church be tried.

The Church Trustees had however challenged the findings and recommendation of the Coroner at the Federal High Court but the application was dismissed on Monday November 11, 2015 paving the way for the trial to commence.
