Fayele vows to win Asoju Oba Tennis Tourney

Last year’s runner-up in the Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship, David Fayele, has vowed that he will leave nothing to chance to win the 2015 edition which gets underway at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Fayele stated this after he defeated Saheed Amusa 4-0 in one of the matches played on Monday at Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Halls of the stadium.

Fayele expressed confidence that no player can stop him from winning the singles event, boasting that failure to reach his target will be a huge disappointment.

“I was at my best against Amusa which gave me such victory. I don’t want to stop there because I have a long way to go. My target is to win the singles events which I lost last year. With God all things are possible,” said Fayele who is a player of Union Bank Table Tennis Club in Lagos.

Union Bank coach, Samson Ajayi said more than 10 players from Union Bank are taking part in the championship.

He said some of his players are playing in the singles, doubles, junior and cadets in both male and female categories.

He described Fayele as a good player that can go all the way to win the singles event.

Speaking on the tournament, one of the officials, Lajide Oluranti disclosed that over 200 players from clubs and schools are taking part in the championship that will end on Friday.

The round of 16 will be played on Tuesday.

The 47th edition of Asoju Oba Molade Table Tennis Championship, which began Monday attracted hundreds of ping-pong fans across the state.
