The Oyo State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr John Adewoye, has charged men of the command to shun corruption and be proactive in information gathering in the state.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluwole Olusegun, in Ibadan on Saturday, quoted Adewoye as giving the charge while addressing some personnel on training.
“I hereby encourage you to be proactive in information gathering and maintenance of synergy with other security agencies and also to shun corruption and compromise,’’ Adewoye was quoted as saying.
According to the statement, the commandant charged his men to be vigilant and proactive, especially in tackling the menace of kidnapping as the Yuletide approaches.
He said that the command would deploy its men across the state during the festive season to enhance peace and security.
The commandant, according to the statement, also urged commuters to be vigilant as they travel.
“I hereby advise the good people of Oyo State to take note of vehicles that ply their areas especially commercial vehicles,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The commandant advised commuters to always note the registration number of commercial vehicles that they board and make their family members aware of their movement.
