#BayelsaDecides: 10 suspects in police net, 6 guns recovered

Police authorities in Bayelsa state have confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects for various offenses in connection with the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Hashimu Argungu who is heading the security arrangement of the election made the confirmation Sunday morning at a press briefing held at the Police Officers Mess, in Yenagoa.

He also warned mischief makers to stay clear of the areas where elections are rescheduled to hold today.

Argungu said the suspects were arrested for illegal posession of fire arms and other electoral offenses, adding that five AK47 and one Berreta pistol were recovered from the suspects.

Commenting on the rescheduled elections, Argungu said “all security agencies have their men on ground in Southern Ijaw and other few places where elections could not take place yesterday,” adding that restriction of movement still stand in the affected areas where election will hold today.

“We have two commissioners of Police, two Brigade Commander, 5 battalion Commander and Deputy Commander of NSCDC already on ground to ensure safety of lives and property in that area. Nobody should entertain fear as security is guaranteed,” he said, just as he emphasised that “Security agencies are ready and NOBODY should take us for granted.”
