DHL Express, a foremost international express services provider and Total, Nigeria’s leading multinational energy company retailer and provider of convenience services, have joined forces to increase consumer access in Nigeria.

A statement by Olawale Adetula, DHL’s Marketing & Communications Manager, West Africa, disclosed the partnership on Monday in Lagos.

The statement said that the companies signed a retail partnership in a bid to provide customers with better access to global express services.

It said that a consumer looking to send documents or parcels overseas could now simply walk into a Total service station to send their shipment.

The service, it noted, ensured greater convenience and accessibility to the over 220 countries and territories that DHL serves.

The statement said the project was currently being piloted in 30 Total service stations around Nigeria in the first phase, adding that 100 additional service stations were earmarked for phase two.

It quoted Randy Buday, Country Managing Director, DHL Express Nigeria, as saying that it would have a great impact on consumers across the country.

“The express logistics industry, and specifically retail services for consumers and small and medium enterprises, are becoming hugely important in Nigeria.

“For us to better service this market and open up global opportunities for students, small business owners and general consumers, we needed to both increase access to our express products.

“But simultaneously, make it easier and more affordable to use them.

“Total is therefore a good strategic fit for us as they have an extensive retail footprint across the country,’’ it said

The statement said that Maxence Bourgoing, Network Development Manager, Total Nigeria Plc, was also pleased with the new partnership.

It quoted him as saying that it further emphasiszed the fact that Total stations were becoming a one stop service station with a bouquet of convenient services for the growing needs of customers.

“TOTAL Nigeria Plc has continued to expand its service operations beyond the core of its business of selling fuel by diversifying its activities for the ultimate benefit of its customers.

“With the addition of courier services to our service offers in TOTAL, it has further re-emphasised the company’s vision of making its retail outlets a one stop centre where other activities beyond the purchase of petroleum products can be made.

“We are by this, glad to partner with DHL a foremost courier service brand with global reputation.

“DHL shall leverage on our nationwide spread thereby bringing courier services closer to our customers.”
