Police probe death of women found in Ikorodu canal

The Lagos State Police Command says it is investigating the circumstances leading to the death of six women whose corpses were found in a canal in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Joseph Offor, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that all the victims had yet to be identified.

Offor said their decomposing corpses were found in a canal at Anibaba area, off Akele Street, Ikorodu, at about 3.30 p.m. on Sunday.

He said that Lagos State environmental agency officials removed the corpses to a public mortuary for autopsy.

According to him, no arrest has been made in connection with the deaths.

The spokesman advised members of the public to report to the nearest police station if any of their relations were missing.
