The Nigerian Army has urged Zaria residents to go about their legitimate businesses as the security situation in the city has been brought under control.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by acting Army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman.

Though the statement did not provide details about any military operation after the attack on the Army Chief, it said the Army was in control.

NAN reports that suspected members of the Shi’ite sect on Saturday attacked the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-General Tukur Buratai in Zaria.

Usman said the continuous disruption of public peace by any group would not be tolerated.
