Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Rivers State Governor, has congratulated the Dream Team VI for winning the African U-23 championship and qualifying for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, Governor Wike stated that the success of the Dream Team VI justified the investment of his administration in creating an enabling environment for international and domestic football to thrive.

Wike said he is happy that the Dream Team VI started their qualification journey in Port Harcourt with the match against Congo Brazzaville at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium with the full backing of the Government and people of Rivers State.

The governor particularly congratulated the Team Coach, Samson Siasia, his technical crew and the players for ensuring that the nation emerged victorious.

He stated that his administration will continue to use sports as a tool to empower the youths, pointing out that the development of a sports agenda is being executed in that direction.

Governor Wike assured that he will continue to support the various national teams to attain success as he believes that sports is a unifying factor.

Dream Team IV had all the competitive matches in Adokiye Amasiemaka stadium built by the immediate past Governor, Chibuike Amaechi where it go tremendous support and motivation from Governor Wike in cash and in kind.
