Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Wednesday in Ibadan said that his administration would focus on raising Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to N3.5 billion by December 2016.

Ajimobi disclosed this on Wednesday during the prayer session held to mark his 66th birthday anniversary at the Government House mosque and chapel.

He said that the state was technically bankrupt, adding that, the economy of the nation needed to be revived inspite of its potentials.

“Our second term would concentrate more on projects that could be termed legacy projects. The projects are economy revitalisation by improving IGR to N3.5billion in 2016 and N5billion in 2017.

“We will also ensure absolute transformation of the education sector and complement our ongoing infrastructural development of the state,” he said.

Ajimobi, who said that his administration would also explore the full potentials of the agricultural sector of the state, added that the sector was the highest employer of labour.

At the mosque session, Alhaji Bello Ahmed-Rufai, the Chief Imam, Government House Mosque, said that the governor was favoured for a second term by God because he was closer to Him.

Ahmed-Rufai, however, called on the governor to concentrate on evolving people-oriented policies and programmes.

“Whoever believes in God, appreciates God, cares for his society, makes people-oriented policies and programmes will surely attain greater heights through the grace and mercy of God,” he said.

Similarly, Bishop Wale Oke, the General Overseer, Christ Life Church, Ibadan, urged the governor to be more focused in the next four years.

“The next three or four years are very critical to you and the state at large. It is very vital to your person and your existence.

“You need to be determined at this critical time for the nation,” he said.

Oke also admonished the people of the state to show more understanding and support for the government, saying the time for politicking was over.

NAN reports that the prayer session was attended by Christian and Islamic clerics as well as public office holders.
