GOtv Boxing Night: Organisers assure on adequate security

Fans coming to watch top class boxing action at the fifth edition of the GOtv Boxing Night have been assured of adequate security in and around the venue of the event.

This assurance was given by Mr. Jenkins Alumona, Managing Director/ Chief Executive of Flykite Productions, organisers of the boxing tourney.

According to Alumona, security has always been given huge attention at every edition of the event.

He explained that security arrangements will not be relaxed, especially given that the event is one at which parents are expected to come. “This is a family-friendly event specially targeted to provide fun for everyone at the festive period. We are happy that one of our partners, KSquare Security, is the leading provider of security services for big events in the country. Fans have nothing to fear. The security arrangements will be top-notch,” he said.

GOtv Boxing V, as the edition is tagged, holds on 26 December at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos, and guarantees the best boxer on the night a cash prize of N1.5million.

The event will feature three title fights and a national challenge duel.

The biggest of the fights will see Nigeria’s Waidi “Skoro” Usman fight Edward Kakembo of Uganda for the African Boxing Union Featherweight title. A national light welterweight title fight will see Sadiq “Police” Machine stake his crown against Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi. In another fight, Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo will fight Sunday “Capo” Olalekan for the national welterweight title.

The challenge bout, in the super middleweight division will see Sunday “Golden Child” Ajuwa take on Rasheed “Afonja Warrior” Abolaji.

The event, which kicks of at 5pm, is sponsored by GOtv and supported by MultiChoice, SuperSport, Newsbreak.ng, KSquare Security, Paragonis Multimedia Limited, Brilla FM, Bond FM and Complete Sports. The fights will be broadcast live on SuperSport in 47 African countries.
