Yuletide: LG gives out food, cash to 300 old people

The Executive Secretary Honourable Lukman Adisa Omotosho

The Executive Secretary of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Honourable Lukman Adisa Omotosho stated that his administration and political party, All Progressives Congress, APC, will continue to work towards development of both human and capital projects.

Omotosho said this on Wednesday, during an event tagged ‘social society program for the elderly’, where over 300 old people in the local government were hosted to a dinner and have their health status checked.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary said” “the program is in line with our party, APC, and the state government’s policy, of taking governance to the people at the grassroot, and that is why we deemed it fit to give a stipend and have the health status of our old people checked, and this is second of it’s series.

“We still have a lot for the aged because they have paid their dues, they worked for what we are now enjoying, and to whom much is given much is expected’, that is why we are hosting them.”

Speaking on the method used in selectting the beneficiaries, the council boss said; “the beneficiaries of the program have political affiliation with our party, they were selected across all political parties, religious bodies, trade associations, Community Development Associations, CDAs, and Community Development Committees, CDCs.

The chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos Island Local Council Development Area chapter, Reverend Michael Ola Makinde, who led members of the association to the program, commended the Executive Secretary for his gesture.

Makinde tasked other political office holders to emulate the Executive Secretary in making dividend of democracy reach those at the grassroots.

The former chairman of the council, Chief Mufutau Kadiku, who was one of the guest, commended the Executive Secretary for remembering those that have paid their due to the society.

Kadiku called on the beneficiaries and residents of the council area to continue to support APC which he said would always make dividend of democracy available to them.

During the event, the beneficiaries blood pressure, sugar level and sight were checked and drugs were freely given to them, food stuffs and cash was also given to the beneficiaries.
