World football governing body, FIFA, has made public the agenda of its Extraordinary Congress scheduled for 26 February, 2016 at the Hallenstadion in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Congress is coming in the wake of Sepp Blatter, relinquishing power to pave the way for several weeks of investigations of alleged corruption, which saw him and UEFA boss, Michel Platini being suspended for 90 days. The suspension, however, has now turned to eight years ban after an independent Ethic Adjudication Committee, found the duo guilty of the offences.
Topmost in the agenda is the election of a new president as obtained on fifa.com
On 9 November 2015, the Ad-hoc Electoral Committee admitted and declared five candidates eligible to stand for election to the office of FIFA President.
The candidates admitted and declared are: HRH Prince Ali Al Hussein, Sheikh Salman Bin, Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Jérôme Champagne, Gianni Infantino and Tokyo Sexwale.
Other items on the list of the agenda signed by acting President, Isa Hayatou include, roll call and declaration that the Congress has been convened and composed in compliance with the Statutes, appointment of scrutineers, suspension or expulsion of a member, approval of the agenda and appointment of five members to check the minutes.
Others are President (Hayatou)’s address, reform of FIFA’s organisational structure, vote on proposals for amendments to the FIFA Statutes, Regulations Governing the Application of the Statutes and Standing Orders of the Congress 9.1 FIFA Statutes 9.2 Regulations Governing the Application of the Statutes 9.3 Standing Orders of the Congress, election for replacement of members of judicial bodies and the new President’s address.
