Residents of Gbaga community in Ikorodu North Local Government Council Development Area, have expressed fears over the sorry state of a dilapidated building located in the Open Route axis in Gbaga-Ikorodu, off Ijede Road, saying that the building could collapse any time.

According to one of the residents, who does not want his name mentioned, the building with a deep cracked wall from top to bottom is being hurriedly plastered to prevent people from seeing the structural defects.

“Under the watchful eyes of two policemen, this building hitherto marked for demolition by the Building Control Laboratory, is being hurriedly plastered to cover a very deep cracked wall and this is a time bomb waiting to happen,” the resident lamented.

He said the situation has constituted a source of worry to the residents and the community at large.

“The questions begging for answers are, who authorized the continuation of construction work on the said property? Has the Building Control Agency compromised and what will befall those who will occupy the building when completed,” he said.

The resident however, called upon relevant authorities to come to the aid of the community in averting the disaster that may occur and also urged the New Covenant Estate Community Development Association to liaise with government to prevent the impending disaster.
