Rivers State Police patrol team Wednesday had a gun duel with suspected armed robbers, killing two while others fled with bullet wounds.
The robbery incident happened at a Petrol Station along East-West road by Etohu, a suburb of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
According to a Press Statement from Ahmad Muhammad, Rivers Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, the policemen stormed the scene while the suspected armed robbers were fleeing and gave them a hot chase.
“A gun duel ensued. In the process two of the robbers were fatally wounded while others fled with gun shot wounds after they were over-powered by the overwhelming fire power of the police.”
At the end of the operation one AK-47 rifle and 12 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition were recovered.
The PPRO said “the area is right now under intense combing with a view to arresting the fleeing armed robbers.”
