A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Igbosere, Lagos Thursday ordered an engineer with EXXon Mobil, James Ikenna Onuoha, 42, who allegedly raped a 14 year old girl to be remanded in Kirikiri prison.

Chief Magistrate (Mrs.) O. A. Ogunbowale who gave the order said Onuoha will remain in prison custody pending when he would perfect his bail conditions.

The court had set a sum of N2 million and two sureties each in the like sum as bail condition for the accused person.

Onuoha was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ogunbowale for allegedly defiling a 14 year old girl (names with held).

He was arraigned on a four count charge offence bordering on wilful indecent act, unlawful sexual intercourse, unlawful and indecent deals and having sexual intercourse with an under-aged girl.

According to Police Prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Agbonedeso, the defendant allegedly committed the offence at Samuel Amoore Street, Idowu Estate, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah, Lagos‎ on January 4, this year.

The charges stated in part: “that ‎Onuoha Ikenna James on January 4, 2016 at about 11.30 a.m. at No 25 Samuel Amoore Street, Idowu Estate, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah Lagos did wilfully performed an indecent act on (names with held) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 134(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

“‎That ‎you Onuoha on same day, place and time did have unlawful sexual intercourse with (names with held) without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

“That ‎you Onuoha on same day, place and time did unlawfully and indecently deals with (names with held) of 14 years of age and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 135 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

“That ‎you Onuoha on same day, place and time did have sexual intercourse with (names with held) of 14 years of age and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

When the charges were read, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the four count charge offence preferred against him by the police.

Chief Magistrate Ogunbowale granted him bail ordered the defendant‎ to be remanded in Kirikiri prison.
