Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has attributed the state’s excellent execution of critical infrastructure to his administration’s commitment to his social contract with the people.

Speaking on Friday when he inspected ongoing road projects in parts of Obio/Akpor LGA, he assured that his administration will execute road projects in all the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The governor inspected work at the Eneka-Rukpokwu road, Oroigwe road, Elimgbu and Rumunduru-Oro-Igwe road.

He said that since assuming office he made project execution his priority because of his pledge to the ordinary people of the state that he will utilise their mandate to improve their fortunes.

“In our 2016 budget, we allocated 60 per cent of funds to capital expenditure while 40 per cent was reserved for recurrent expenditure. Therefore, all efforts are targeted at improving the living standard of the people.

“This state is different from others in terms of project execution because we have prioritised funding of projects. We are happy with the results we are getting because the people are satisfied with the efforts of this administration”.

He regretted that the immediate past administration played politics with roads in the area leaving the communities inaccessible. He said that he has changed the situation with regular funding of projects supported by high level supervision.

Governor Wike was accompanied on the project inspection by two Rivers State PDP Chieftains , Chief Sergeant Awuse and Prince Emma Anyanwu.

Thousands of market women at the Oroigwe market and residents of the communities visited trooped out to sing the praises of the governor for living up to their expectations.
