Fear grips family of LG boss after escaping assassination

Fear has gripped the family of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Council, Rowland Sekibo, following the attack on his private residence in Iwofe axis of Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.
The assassination attempt took place on Saturday, 23 January when unidentified gunmen stormed Sekibo’s residence at about 8: 45pm in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.
Sekibo was fortunately not at home at the time of the invaders came calling.
There was no casualty during the siege that lasted about an hour but properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the gunmen.
The chief security guard at the residence, Kenneth Umodu, told journalists that Sekibo narrowly escaped death.
Meanwhile, Sokubo Saraigbe, Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, has condemned the attack on Sekibo.
Saraigbe condemned the attack during a sympathy visit to the residence of Sekibo and called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.
He said the attack is suspicious because it came barely ten hours after some gunmen attacked a passenger boat in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, killing one person.
At the time filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command said it had not received an official complaint from Sekibo on the attack on his residence in Port Harcourt by unknown gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Ahmed Mohammed, said that the police will act as soon as they receive official complaint from the victim.
