The Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo, on Friday matriculated 5,218 students for the 2015/2016 academic session.
NAN reports that 3,623 were inducted for the National Diploma (ND), while 1,595 students were admitted for the Higher National Diploma (HND).
Addressing the students at the 34th matriculation ceremony, the rector of the institution, Dr Philipa Idogho challenged them to distinguish themselves in their academics.
“I congratulate you on your success in gaining admission into this institution.Today you begin a new phase in your life and I urge you to make the best use of this opportunity,” she said.
Idogho said they should see their admission as not only noble but glorious and advised them to be determined, diligent, focused and resilient.
She said that the management of the institution had provided adequate lecture facilities to them receive lecture in a comfortable environment.
The rector warned the students against cultism, and warned that any one caught in the act would be expelled from the school.
