In order to increase youth participation in governance, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Jide Jimoh, has appointed 11 Liaison Officers from Mainland Federal Constituency.

These liason officers are to henceforth represent him in each of the wards that make up the constituency.

The liason officers have been handed their appointment letters.

Jimoh, who was represented at the event by his legislative aide, Rotimi Akeju, said that the appointment of these youths was part of his legislative commitments.

According to him, “you have been screened and appointed today as liaison officers in your various wards to perform suitable duties that would be assigned to you.

“What we are doing today is part of my legislative commitment to further improve my constituency and to bridge communication gap between the people and me.

“Your appointments are with immediate effect.”

The legislator stressed that qualified youths were drawn from various wards in Lagos Mainland purely on merit and not on the basis of sentiment.

“You know we have to use the best hands when it comes to liaison officers. That was why you were screened before your appointments,” he said.

Jimoh urged the selected youths to be good representatives and also be transparent in their dealings.

He assured his constituency to expect better representation and community improvements throughout his stay at the green chamber.
