Police recover truckload of PMS, arrested suspects in Benin

Nemesis has caught up with some criminals who hijacked a truck laden with substances and diverted them to other places.
One Omoruyi Nathaniel is currently cooling his heels at the Ogun state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta where he is helping the police with useful information about tracking other members of the group.
Police operatives attached to Iperu Division of the Ogun State Police Command in Ikenne local government area of the state arrested some suspects who hijacked a truck, with registration number: AKD 711 XM at Mallo filling station, along Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
The truck, which was hijacked on February 12, 2016 at about 5:30 am, was loaded with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly called, petrol.
The suspects who operated using a SUV (reg number unknown) used the vehicle to cross the driver of the truck and hijacked the truck with its content and drove it down to Okada town in Edo State, South-south, Nigeria.
Police operatives swung into action immediately the report was made at Iperu Division and traced the truck to Okada, Edo state, where it was recovered with the product.
Omoruyi Nathaniel was arrested with the receiver, one Mrs Adeyemi Adeyoyiosola and they are currently at the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, DCII, Eleweran, Abeokuta for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulmajid Ali has commended the police operatives for the good and professional operation carried out and reinstated command’s commitment to tackle such crime and other criminal activities in the State.
While condemning hijacking of trucks with goods, the police boss ordered the Divisional Police Officers along the ever-busy Lagos/Ibadan and Lagos/Benin expressways in Ogun state to brace up and go after those hoodlums who embarrass and rob road users along the expressways.
Ali also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police,DCP in charge of Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence,DCP Shina Olukolu to personally supervise the investigation.
The police boss however assured that the Command will leave no stone unturned in making sure that criminals don’t go unpunished in the state.
