An Oredo Magistrate’s court 4, sitting in Benin, Edo state, Wednesday sentenced a 23-year-old man, Maxwell Oronsaye, to two years imprisonment for breaking into the shop of one Luma Amaka, in Benin city, Edo state.

The convict who pleaded guilty to the two-count charge filed against him, was said to have committed the crime in the wee hours of February 22, 2016, at‎ No. 2, Ugbor road, in Benin.

According to the Prosecutor, Sgt Thomas Ojo, the convict broke into the store and stole six pairs of pam slippers and seven belts valued at N52,000.00.

Ojo said the offence contravened section 413, 390 of the criminal code Cap 48 Vol. II laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable to Edo.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. J.O. Ejale, found the convict guilty and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with hard labour, with no option of fine‎.
