As the fuel situation in Benin and other major towns in Edo state remains critical, few commuter buses and taxi cabs are now plying the roads leaving thousands of residents stranded.
As at Monday, most filling stations in Benin are devoid of activities as they do not have petroleum products to sell.
The few stations where fuel is available, sell between N250 and N300 per litre, just as black marketers are having a filled day everywhere in the city, selling 10-litre of petrol for between N4000 and N4500.
This has forced long queues at filling stations, especially NNPC stations and those of major marketers, motorists keep vigil in anticipation that fuel will arrive.
The situation appears to get worse as the day goes by as most commercial vehicles are off the road, creating transport difficulties for passengers who are forced to pay high fares occasioned by the fuel scarcity.
