Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Sunday, urged Christians to embark on fervent prayers to arrest the upsurge in kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the country.

He made the call during a service to mark 2016 Catholic Mothering Sunday at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Federal Housing, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

He commended Monsignor Obiora Ike, also the Chairman of the Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee, for his selfless service to the state and humanity in general.

He said “prayers had become necessary in view of the increasing incidences of crimes and other anti-social activities in different parts of the country.

“I believe that prayers will do so much in checking the menace of herdsmen/farmers clashes, cases of rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, among others.”
