Private guards to get unified identification card – NSCDC

imagesThe Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji Abdullahi Gana, says Private Guard Companies in the country will get unified identification card soon.

This is contained in a statement issued by Emmanuel Okeh, the Spokesperson of the Corps, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

The statement quoted Gana as saying this when a delegation of the Road Transport Employers Association (RTEAN) led by its National President, Alhaji Isiwele Musa visited him in Abuja.

“I will direct the NSCDC Identity Card Department to Liaise with the Road Transport Employers Association on the need to produce a unified identity card for Private Guard Companies Personnel nationwide, to further position the sector to higher standard, “he said.

The commandant said that the move was to further reposition the companies and make their operations standard.

Gana said that the core mandate of the Corps to protect critical infrastructure and other national assets were very vital for the economic growth of the country.

He said that the corps would continue to work hard to discharge its notable national assignment.

Gana assured the association that the corps would continue to maintain the existing good relationship between the two organisations.

Earlier, Musa noted that RTEAN was a major stakeholder in the transport sub-sector of the Nigerian Economy with over 16 million members spread across the country.

RTEAN president said that the association seeks to establish a good interface with the corps and to further strengthen the partnership and deepen the existing relationship.

Musa thanked the NSCDC that their efforts really helped Transports Owners and all Nigerians, as the fuel queues have now disappeared.

He maintained that the effective implementation of the core mandate of the NSCDC of protection of critical infrastructure and National Assets against vandalism was highly commendable.

He said the association presently has its own data capturing machines with the capacity to produce 80,000 identity cards in 10 hours.

Musa said the association was the umbrella body of all owners of vehicles used for commercial purpose nationwide.
