Rivers Rerun: Police arraign 37, promise justice

Rivers State Police Command has dismissed rumours that the suspects arrested during the re-run elections in Rivers State have been freed.
The command insisted that 37 suspects comprising 35 male and two female were arrested from different parts of the state on the allegations of criminal or electoral offences or both have all been arraigned before magistrate courts 4 and 6, Port Harcourt on different days.
A statement by the Police Command and endorsed by Ahmad Muhammad,the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, stated that “In essence, none of the suspects was allowed to go free.
“The Command is presently in consultation with relevant agencies so as to diligently prosecute the cases that will ultimately lead to conviction of the suspects.”
The Command stated categorically that the rumour of setting suspects free without prosecution were untrue and that did not happened.
The Police Command enjoined Members of the public to discountenance and ignore the story in its entirety.
