Manchester United reached a first FA Cup final since 2007 as Anthony Martial’s stoppage-time goal beat Everton at Wembley.

Former Toffees midfielder Marouane Fellaini opened the scoring when he swept home Martial’s pass.

David De Gea saved Romelu Lukaku’s penalty but Everton equalised when Chris Smalling turned Gerard Deulofeu’s cross into his own net.

However, Martial latched onto substitute Ander Herrera’s poked through-ball and drove home the winner.

Manchester United will meet the winner of Sunday’s tie between Crystal Palace and Watford at Wembley on 21 May.

Progressing to a record-equalling 19th FA Cup final means Manchester United, fifth in the Premier League, have the chance to end a disappointing season with a trophy.

After Marouane Fellaini’s opener, Everton were awarded a penalty midway through the second half when Timothy Fosu-Mensah was adjudged to have fouled Ross Barkley.

David De Gea saved Romelu Lukaku’s spot-kick but the Toffees equalised through Chris Smalling’s own goal.

“The referees are deciding the game and not the players any more,” Van Gaal told BBC Sport.

“We deserved to go to the final. The referee… we didn’t have any fouls in our benefit. He changed the match.”
