Bishop urges Nigerians to shun lust for wealth

The Bishop of Badagry Diocese, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Adeyemi, on Sunday urged Nigerians to be contented with what God had provided for them..

He said this on the occasion of the 50th Birthday of Ven. Babatunde Adegoroye, the Vicar of Bishop Ajayi Crowther Memorial Anglican Church (BACMAC), Gowon Estate, Ipaja, Lagos.

The occasion also marked the inauguration of the Church’s vicarage; church bus dedication; and 20th wedding anniversary of Ven. and Mrs Adegoroye.

The Bishop of the Lagos West Diocese, Rt. Rev.. James Odedeji, perfomed the inauguration of the vicarage and the dedication of the church bus.

Adeyemi said that many Nigerians asked God to provide cars, housing and other things for them, adding that even after providing such things, they continued to ask for more.

“We do not thank God at times for what he has done for us. Some people do not bother to say thank you God.

“Some of us are never satisfied. No matter how difficult your life is, you can always count your blessings; past, present and future,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes Adeyemi as saying.

He urged Nigerians to think of the legacy they would leave behind and a lot of what they could gain.

The bishop urged the vicar not to diminish in return, adding that he should continue with his commitment to the work of God.

Adeyemi citied Phillipians 4:8 and advised that Christians should always make themselves pure.

He also urged Christians to serve God conscientiously and sincerely.

Adegoroye, who is the Registrar of the Anglican Seminary in Lagos, said that he would remain committed in the vineyard of God.

He said that as the registrar of the seminary, so many priests had benefitted from his lectures.
