Man nabbed for dealing in Indian hemp
The NDLEA in Ekiti on Friday re-arraigned one Oluwatoyin Omiata before the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly dealing in 8.8kg of Indian hemp.
The Prosecutor, Mr. Charles Ugwuja, told the court that the 27-year-old accused was arrested on March 10, 2013, at No. 16 Obatedo St., Ado-Ekiti for dealing in illicit drug.
Ugwuja prayed the court to commence the case afresh following the retirement of the former trial judge, Justice Adamu Hobon.
He told the court that the offence committed contravened Section 11c of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
When the charge was read to the accused again, he pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, Mr. Victor Saliu, made an oral application to allow his client enjoy the former bail granted him by Hobon.
The trial judge, Justice D.U Okorowo, ordered that the accused should continue enjoying bail on the former conditions and terms and has adjourned the case till June 15 for the start of the trial.
