The Zamfara Hajj Commission has refunded N80 million to 4, 001 persons from the state that participated in the 2015 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sarki-Fawa revealed this at a press conference on Thursday in Gusau.
Sarki-Fawa said that the money was received from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria as refund for services not rendered to the pilgrims during the exercise.
“Each of the pilgrims was refunded N16, 414.53 and the exercise was conducted across the 14 local government areas of state by the committee set up by the commission.
“The committee is headed by the commission’s part-time members with the support of the Local Government and Emirate Councils,’’ Sarki-Fawa said.
He said that the commission had commenced preparations for the 2016 Hajj and had already concluded the registration of intending pilgrims from the state.
